Your not the first to question this I did when I bought it too (I would venture to say it is early 80's) but everything matches and it has been inspected by the CHP and everything checks good.
All I know is when I bought it the VIN number in the door jam (74 I believe is the last year they had the VIN #'s in the door jams may be wrong... after that they went to the VIN # plates in the dash on the drivers side just inside the windshield which this Blazer does not have) it has the door jam VIN which matches that of the title and registration which is a 73' also somthing I have been told is to look at the rivets that hold the VIN number plate they are a special kind that show if the VIN plate is tampered with and they have not been tampered with I know this because my neighbor is CHP and he does vehicle inspections. I do know that the half cab tops started in 75 or 76 and the full convertables ended with 74 or 75 something like that I am off by a year somewhere. The guy I bought it from owned a fab shop maybe he felt the need to put a half cab on a 73 (why I have no idea)??? not sure but I do know all the numbers match this truck as far as VIN # and title and registration.
Unless someone can shed light on how the VIN number match the paperwork and the Plate is in the drivers side door jam and the plate rivets are not tampered with I have to say it is a 73.....
I am not one to complain either way because it is smog free and I am happy about that as pig in poop so to speak
