Solid Axle Conversion kits are officially available!

Has anyone done a 2wd and if so, have you had to take off the upper coil spring mounts to use the kit?
Thanks
Joe

We haven't put our kit on a 2WD but we do have a 2WD pickup here and we've have verified that the brackets will bolt up.

The coil buckets may need to be cut off and the frame patched back up, I think the biggest hurdle there may be mounting shocks without cutting the coil buckets off.

So Chris, the main issue is that the buckets may interfere with the shocks? I haven't had a chance to look at my truck as it's buried in snow. I envisioned that the steering would be fine and the leaf springs too. So maybe just the shocks. Can the shocks be mounted on a slight angle as the 73-87 trucks, as my K5 has them? Then it would require some kind of shock mount bolted to the frame. Just a thought. Or can the bucket be used as a shock mount???

Thanks

That's the way I saw it, looks like shock mounts would be the hurdle on the 2WD truck.

The frames are boxed at the front so bolting on shock mounts would be difficult.

I just took a look at the frame this morning and that bucket is staying. If the bucket doesn't interfere, what are the chances it can be used as a shock mount? It'll be vertical and not slanted, but will it line up with the axle tube in the correct location and will the shock be long enough? I guess with at least 7 more inches, length should not be an issue. Just the location on the axle tube.
Thanks

I guess this gives me a reason to try and find a 6.5 td, 5 speed Yukon or Tahoe. Not even sure they exist....

What springs would you be using?

I was thinking of only going to a 4" 73-87 GM front spring. I just want to run a 35 All Terrain as I will be pulling with this truck. Mostly used for pulling the travel trailer but I want it to be usefull when we get a ton of snow up here also. 2wd pickups suck in the snow.

We have kits for both but the brackets are specific to the spring.
