Not sure what you built, but what I was getting at, is that if you bleed the brakes using the brake pedal, you are more likely than not going to damage the seals in the master cylinder, leading to more leakage past those seals, meaning braking will be less than optimal.
You may not have enough leakage to trigger the brake warning light (I didn't, for 4 months) but it doesn't mean the system is working correctly.
