some progress pics...

Correct, the front has an angle shim and a zero rate. With the Dana 60 I cannot just change the spring perches to change the pinion angle, thus the angle shims. Also, remember that on the Dana 60 the driver side perch is about 1 1/2" tall to compensate for the passenger side perch being cast into the carrier housing. On the back I have an angle shim just for setup. When I am sure of the final angle needed I will weld the new spring perches at that angle. Good observation though, Gaspass.

nice, i say go flat black... just scuff up what ya got and shoot it...

at least thats what im doin to mine lol

Looking good. I am glad that you are putting at blazer back together. I was real sad to hear he was going to have to part it out. Keep us updated.

Will do RingMaster.

When you clearcoat over flat black, it turns it glossy doesn't it?

Prolly gonna be black, just deciding between flat and normal. With the salt in the air out here (on the beach) I'll probably opt for the added protection of a glossy finish.

Thanks for the input guys.

No update pics because it still looks the same as it looked in the pics here. I ordered a cross member/motor mount kit from DIY4X4. Been waiting on it so I can set motor, trans, transfer case in the frame. It arrived today, so I guess I can get back on the project this weekend. BTW, I hope the kit from Kert works as well as it looks. It looks very beefy and very well made. Will get pics on the installed BBC as soon as it is setting in the frame.

Hey guys. Here's the pics of the crossmember bolted to the BB. Fit-up around the oil pan is great (at least a 1/4") but remember, this oil pan isn't standard (66 velle's used odd pans). As you may or may see from the pic (last pic in this reply), the passenger side mount plate (bolts to frame mount) hits the manifold. Not a big deal, going to headers, but the manifold or mount plate could be massaged, or possibly other manifolds would fit.

Engine has not been fit into the truck yet, that's the next step.

Hope the pics help guys....

This is not a First Gen design ~ I just made it fit:D and with 1/8" clearence it's tight but works....

New update guys. Placed the engine in the frame, with the new crossmember. The engine has tall vavle covers to accomodate the roller rockers, so the engine is shifted forward approx 3.5 inches.

As the pics show, the crossmember held in by clamps for now, Kert is sending us new frame inserts with no holes, so we can drill them ourselves (easier).

We also put the rad support on, and one fender. Even with the engine shifed forward, I think it'll be okay. May have to put the fans on the front, no biggy.

Exhaust/header clearance is going to be an issue. Not sure typical style headers that fit inside the frame rails are gonna work. Any suggestions there would be cool.

Anyway, here's the pics.
