some progress pics...

Good chance we will have for May run. May not have all the body and details done, but that sheet don't matter for the trails!! Main problem may be the drive shafts. Going to have to have two double cardin shafts made. As soon as I have the final numbers I will get a hold of High Angle Drive. Hopefully they won't take too long.

Hey no problem man- RG72's is sweet too - yours is just a little more together - LOL

This picture - it looks so mean - 39.5 Swampers might be in my future - as soon as my Krawlers wear out - which on my current track - will be around 2015

Man, I may just send you a dozen roses and a box of See's candy for Valentines Day :D :eek1: !!

Excellent reference pics, as promised     !!

Your rig is looking mighty awesome :woot: :saweet: !

Igor: We have another truck with 39.5 TSLs, but are 15 inch x 8.75 wheels. The ones on this truck are 16.5 x 12 wheels. The 12 inchers realy make the tires look beefier. The only thing is that with 16.5s you have to go with beadlocks if you want to air down.

Woohoo! But maybe... I can get that forwarded to my girlfriend instead. That'd take care of valentines day. lol

Thanks for the compliment CDA. The pics will keep coming. Im planning on sticking with this thread until the truck is complete. Stay tuned. :)

My father posted the reply above. Like he said, going to the 12" wide rims (10" was recommended) really widens out the TSL's footprint, makes the whole tire look bigger.

Safety beads can always be added to 16.5 rims (steelies anyway). I/we bought a set of standard beadlocks (16.5's) from DIY4X that had the inner safety bead welded on. But yeah so far Im pretty stoked about those double beadlocks. Cant wait to play in the sand with like 3psi. muhaha

39.5's are bigger than they look in pics (imo). If you go with them, just make sure its not for a daily driver. :D

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. Like said above, this thread will be here for a good long time, and I always love feedback.

Thanks vt. The motor is strong, it use to do my chevelle proud. And its been warmed up abit since then. Horsepower and torque wont be a problem. The th400 will hold up fine I have no doubt. The atlas, Advanced Adapters didn't even flinch at me wanting to put it behind a healthy bigblock. I live 45 mins from Advanced Adapters, so if there's a problem I can shove it down their throats (kidding... sort of). Im confident it'll do fine.

One concern I have right now are the gear ratios in the axles, 456. Thinking that's high for 40" tires. Probably change those out once we get the thing together.

IMO the 4.56s will kick butt with that healthy big block and won't push your RPMs when driving down the highway
Wow interesting, I was figuring it'd be too high. I guess I'll find out. Thanks for the info RGV72.

Ya I think the 40"ers & 456 with that Texas Slushbox will be a good match fer ya. My buddy had 38" with a similar setup and he loved the mix. Don't worry with that BBC yu'll be barkin thoes 40s :haha:
