Somebody here is tracking Chalets...not sure if this one is accounted for?

I think there's a group that does. I will say that thing looks pretty damn clean!

I guess!..you'd probably never find one nicer..I'd love to own that..

I like the side by side rear seating,it seems to allow for easier access to the rear seats and more leg room..
I set my van up that way,I made a pair of "benches" that fold out into a bed..

Eek.

Eek, eek, eek. Situations like this make my skin crawl ....., also known as "what a difference a spit-shine makes." Yep, I track as many of these as I can find, and this is Chalet #0414, built in 7/76, which I first ran across in an April 2014 Boise Craigslist ad for $2800, as seen in the left-hand printout below. In May, it came up again in the same rattty shape strangely listed in Vale Oregon, for $3750. I'd missed the Craigslist ad for it, but had ran across the Google search results not long after the seller deleted it, and by doing a search using some of the ad words, I was able to get a printout from the Mitula.us classifieds aggregator site. Next, it popped up again in somewhat cleaner condition again in Boise a month later for $5500. From the photos I'd already gathered, it had older reupholstered dinette seats and van-style highback seats, later model wheels, and it was missing the passenger side set of interior cabinets. The particular tell-tale detail is whatever the black coating is on the front of the camper roof.

What do we have now? It's been fully cleaned up and likely dusted on the underside with black spray paint. The non-factory cab seats have been reupholstered again, in a somewhat authentic looking but still factory incorrect pattern, along with the dinette seats, and now it sports rally wheels (which should have been painted silver, not tan, if one is aiming to restore the thing to factory showroom-new appearance, which is where the collector car value in these things is).

Since it has apparently gone past the reserve amount, it may happen that the winning bidder will be pleased as punch to acquire the last Chalet on the planet ..... until he discovers how he could have gotten the identical vehicle for way less and still have saved a bundle of money by putting in the same spit-shine and 'upgrades' himself.

I love it! That somebody is keeping up with these things...preserving a bit of history and almost as much fun as tracking sharks. Have you ever bought one that you have found or come close to it? How many really exist and are any still factory and at what price?

Long stories short, I started looking for one of these in 2005, gave serious consideration of offering $8 grand on Chalet #0560 to a classic car dealer before I figured out what the relative values on these were, gave a serious $5500 offer on Chalet #0058 (which later ended up at the Barrett-Jackson auction with the same kind of spit-shine on it as #0414 above), and then I ultimately got the #1747 Chalet seen in my avatar right here in Phoenix for $3900. Put $5 grand of parts & labor into it to make it nearly daily-driver level, but had to sell it for poverty reasons at around break-even price.

I can individually identify around 400 of these, and I 'find' around 40 new ones each year, but keeping track of all their whereabouts is like herding cats. Owners come & go out of the Chalet forum, and sellers hardly ever let me know what the status of their rigs & orphaned camper units is. I only know of maybe less than a half dozen that qualify as near factory showroom new, and the two highest legit personal buyer prices that I know of are around $15 grand for the almost completely restored Chalet #0099, and $12 grand for the similarly restored Chalet #0023. As I noted at the FAQ page update in the blazerchalet.com site, the $21,500 price for Chalet #1385 is an anomoly, driven up by a single bidder. The bid amount for the current #0414 on ebay looks to be about double or more than what it is actually worth, considering what it needs to get it to correct showroom new appearance.

You sir are under-appreciated! I may never own a Chalet, but I appreciate you doing what you do! It's fascinating reading at the very least!
It's a hobby, keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. By way of example, we also have the expired 8/7 ebay listing for an unidentified Chalet in Nebraska, which turns out to be listed by the same guy who had the meltdown with me over another Chalet he was trying to sell last year. And I just re-discovered my prior pic of that one which I'd gleaned from a 2015 Facebook search.

A buddy of mine sent me a link to that off bringatrailer and I had a little problem standing up straight if you get my meaning..... That has mini man cave machine written all over it. Just need to find a place to mount the 32 inch LCD and a dish and go luxury camping.... LOL

Watch for this "$19 grand ebay wonder" to be relisted ..... although possibly after its engine issue is fixed. Be sure to keep an eye out in the relisting to see if they drop the "mint" label about the condition of the interior.

Here a pic of mine
Whoa! Another 'new' one to add to my mega-spreadsheet list. Could you tell me what the serial number and build date is, from the little plate on the back, like what's seen in my former #1747, and could you share the VIN of the truck? (PM me with the VIN if you don't want all eyes to see it, although to the best of my ability to tell, VINs can't yield private owner info out of state MV departments)

VINs are what I gather, too, but can't tell much from them at the moment. If I ever find a list out of GM or the old Chinook company that cross references the VINs with the camper serial numbers, then that will help me identify the few where I only have VINs for them.
