Somebody here is tracking Chalets...not sure if this one is accounted for?

...wonder how much the chalet is worth on its own...
It's a gutted unit, the reinforcing of the roof underside is a repair of when the roof apparently got enough wind under it to crack it upward. In all the years I've seen orphaned camper units, they tended not to sell for anything more than $300 - $500 when fully equipped. I know of the owner of the gutted #1033 unit who could not succeed in giving away that one for years. But it seems a few buyers can be hooked into stratospheric purchase prices when they think it's the last unit on the planet ....

Cool thank you for the info

Thanks! This is a many months subsequent update situation to the #375 post in this thread, where this #0556 rig now has a Craigslist besides its still-online FB Marketplace ad. Optimistic price, the seller hasn't lowered his initial January 29 price.

A fine example here in the Copper Country.
Chalet #0117, good to have a "current whereabouts" on it. Thanks!! Last I saw of it was in 2016 when a random general search turned up this guy's Facebook post of spotting it. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1253486854697758&set=a.373582146021571.86837.100001093665440 . I PM'd him through FB to ask if he got any more photos, and he did and shared them with me as well. He saw it at an Econo Foods store in Houghton MI. Not known who the owner is, though.

Yeah, that store is 10 min from where it's sitting in these pics, 5 min down the hill from my house. Really nice condition, but I assume it's at this shop for some kind of repairs.

The kids asked "why I don't do that to my truck" and I had to point out how my entire cab roof and hard top is striped up from brush.

It would be interesting to know what they spent restoring it.

This one just sold for $53.9k at mecum
Anybody able to get a screengrab of the page where it shows the ending bid amount. Man! I sure feel sorry for whoever it is who ended up with it, if the person believed the line about it being a "comprehensive" restoration, when the reality is that it is more accurately described as a basic refurbishment made to look period-correct. At this Nov 2019 Facebook post reply, the guy who oversaw its refurbishment plainly stated that he did not repaint it in the factory original colors because he did not like the way they looked. I informed every subsequent owner that while the new color looked better, it really actually hurt its collector value if the objective of such restorations is to exactly recreate the factory showroom-new appearance.

One would have to inquire with the guy at the above-linked FB reply post. Not actually a whole lot since the rig wasn't in terrible shape back in 2019 - see pic below pre-repaint - but it would involve whatever the going rate is at autobody shops for that amount of acreage of sheetmetal /fiberglass to paint, and a graphics place to re-do the back door decal. BTW, the graphics place did actually contact me about the colors of the back door decals, but nobody asked about what ended up to be the non-factory gold metalflake color or other refurbishment details on this one. There's a variety of faults going on with this one.

Correct me if I am wrong on this -- I know the '77 Blazers had the one-year-only yellow-painted stainless steel side trim, but that also applied to '77 model year Jimmys, right? If so, this '77 Casa Grande has the black-painted side trim of a '76 & earlier on it ....

GMC used the same yellow trim in 1977 as Chevy.

Thought so, never hurts to get independent corroboration, and at the time I didn't have quick access to my photos pile for absolute confirmation. Yep, Casa Grandes #s 1799, 1675, 1660, 1360, 1303, 1299, and 1278 have the yellow-painted stainless trim … and so did this Mecum auction #1457 itself before its refurbishment, as seen in the 2010 pic below.
Many, many thanks for that, all a part of my paper printout records piles of these.

Thanks for the alert! I was away camping all week with no internet access, so I didn't see this until tonight. This is the return of Chalet #0414, where the entertaining aspect of it is how this BaT auction listing links to its prior mention of it back in 2016 (back when Bat had both its own auction listings and writeups of listings elsewhere), and within the 2016 comment section there is the one I placed about its non-original upholstery, missing passenger side closet cabinets & other major faults that seriously hurt its overall value.
