Not too much has been updated on my truck in awhile, but recently my parents hooked me up with a gift certificate for a local fab guy to do some work on my truck so i decided to have him fab up a front bumper for the K5. Here is the progress so far. I am running the DIY4X b-52 up front in the forward most position and he came up with a legit way to mount the bumper up while still incorperating rigidness. Anyways, i'll update this thread as posts more pics on the local board.

he still has to add the stinger and winch plate along with some side protection. Its all 1.75" DOM tubing.
One question, Before i took it in, i realized that my driver's side body mount sits an 1/8" lower from the top of the frame then the passengers side, and as you can see, the tube looks a lot lower on the pass. side, and i was wondering what i could do to make i look even? Would an 1/8" spacer under the drivers side bount be safe, or what? I'm open to suggestions. Anyways, i appreciate any advice on that.

Looks like a good start. I like the added plates on the inside of the frame. :thumb:

thanks guys, i appreciate the comments. I am going to be running a 12k ramsey profile winch.

What does everyone think about adding a 1/8" spacer/shim inside the drivers side body puck to help level out the front. I took measurements to the frame and it sits 1/8" lower on that side, but i wanted to run it by you guys, before i do anything i'm going to regret? Basically i'm just trying to get a level view of the front, so it doesnt look like its sloping down.

I have a hard time seeing the pics because they are so dark but you might want to reinforce it a bit if you are planning on running a 12K winch. I think it might rip the end of the frame right off. Otherwise it looks great!

Thanks for the heads up. it will be mounted feet out on the winch plate, to hopefully take some force, as soon as he gets farther in building it i will post up more pictures. There is still a lot to be added.

I get what you are saying. But if the winch, no matter of feet up or down, is mounted to the bumper, then the bumper is going to be pulling on the end of the frame. See what I mean? I just wouldn't want it to rip the bumper off of the end of the frame.

gotch ya, i understand what you are getting at. I know the pics are hard to see, but their is a perpendicular mount that ties into the front of the b-52 bracket, which also has 6 mounting holes perside. Let me see if i can dig up a quick paint reference to show you what i mean, b/c i suck at explaining things on the keyboard, lol.

Edit:

ok, here is a quick pic to show the connecting points of the bumper, let me know what you guys think if there should be more, or whatever.

I would say that the spacer on the body would be OK...but I would try to find out why it is sagging.

As for the bumper.. run another crossmember between the frame rails/bumper mounts and tie the winch plate to that- I will post pics of how I did mine that way and it should be bombproof

thanks for the props guys,

i would like to see the pics that you are talking about mistrfnygy. I'm always open for sugestions and feedback.

Very nice bumper! I really like the cuts in the lower plate.
