Soo... 4.10 gears are in. No Overdrive. =/

Obviously, you have checked that the shifter moves into every detent (PRND321) by now. I just realized that the linkage inside the tranny could be bent. The detent thingy is mounted to the shifter shaft and it ties to the manual valve with a little rod. If that rod was bent, the manual valve positions could be just a little off. You could try moving the shifter slightly to the left and see if there is OD there before it goes into Neutral.

Also, you should go out and take a picture of your transmission pan and post it here to silence the doubts of which unit it is.

Something is wrong with your setup.

I have a 700R4 5.13 gears 35" BFGs and I can shift through all the gears fine. My 700R4 was upgraded when I went through it if I remember correctly Corvette servo and something else that I am forgetting. It shifts into the gears pretty hard. Not a shift kit but something else. urrgg oh well.

But its shifts through all the gears just fine so something is wrong with your setup.

take my word on it. It's a 700r4. It's the second i've put in this truck.

and tried putting the shifter as far left as I could before it hit neutral and it didn't do anything.

And i realized earlier that when i completely let off the gas it shifts to OD ( i think) because the rpm's drop down to idle and when i hit the gas again, even a little, it has a pause before it shifts back down and the rpm's catch up. But if i shift it to third and let off the gas it has an engine brake effect.

This means something - at least that there is difference in setting the manual valve to OD instead of 3. I'm not sure it means the tranny is reaching 4th gear, though. If you can get your hands on a pressure gauge or a pressure switch, it would be helpful to see if there is pressure on the 4th gear port.

If the other gears and shifts are reasonable, it means the TV and governor signals are OK. So the problem is 4th gear specific - like the 3-4 or 4-3 valve is stuck or you have a leaking seal in the servo (4th apply piston) or leaking gasket on the separator plate. Obviously the clutches are OK because the other gears work.

Pulling the valve body is really not that terrible of a job. You could check out the relevant valves and clean them.

This is a symptom of a sliping overdrive in a computer controlled tranny. I asume coasting down a hill at speed you will just be free-wheeling in neutral (w/ selector in OD)? What solenoids lock in the 700r4 to engage OD?

None. 700R-4 is mechanical, with the exception of Torque converter lockup

I might as well give it a once over anyways. My pan gasket is starting to leak anyways.

And i might be able to get my hands on a 4l80e, should i go that route or stay with a 700r4?

1) Stick with the 700, going 4L50E will require a bunch of 'lectronics you wont want to mess wtih.
2) GPS speedo is almost 99.5% accurate, since selective error has been removed several years ago (a decade now?), accuracy has gotten impressive.
3) Story: I once had an '89 S-10 Blazer, 4.3L and 700R4. On my way to Uwharrie NC for some fun, my trans wouldnt shift out of 2ed and damn near burnt up before I could get to the park. Some of the peeps there helped me to adjust my TV cable, it ran damn near perfect after that, except the damage was already done. I had to swap it with a used one from a K5 later. I found that the RATCHETING ADJUSTER was SLIPPING, and the TV adjustment would not keep! I replaced the TV adjuster cable with adjuster and everything was fine after that (except for cracked flex plates :-) )
4) My 700 is in decent shape right now, but I am saving up for a Monster.

Monster:

Proper adjustment of the TV cable, this one is ON THE SPOT!

From what I learned, the hard way, just because your shifter is in (OD) doesnt mean it will go through the gears, if the TV is jacked up it may NEVER leave out of 1st or 2ed!!!

I dont know what your technical knowledge is, so I posted the TV video to help if you were unsure. If your already good on that, Im sure the vid will help someone else.

Keep us posted,
Andrew
