Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2" ram from WTO that DOESN'T leak???

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

jek, 1-1/2? When did you buy it? How long has it been in use? Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]

actually I got one of the very first ones he had made. I knew he was having a new kind of ram custom made for his hydro systems and I basically had one on pre-order before he even had them in-hand. I pre-paid for the system and everything. Anyway, not sure if this validates your "the early ones were fine, newer ones aren't" theory or not... but I do know that mine works flawlessly and Matt/WTO are a great vendor...

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

Well I'll tell you this. The last time my ram started leaking I got tired of it and I sold it all to Esteban86k5 here on the board. He got it and got a seal at the local hydraulic shop and rebuilt the ram himself. I believe it has been fine ever since. He has bent the shaft and Matt sent him a new one but I believ he had to pay for it since he isn't the origional system owner. Anyway, I believe Matt told him that he is using a new style seal now that doesn't leak as much but I'm not positive... I'm happy with my 2.25" bore 1.5" shaft surplus ram /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

mines been on about a year now. I'd say it sweats, but don't leak. Never had a puddle or even seen the shaft wet, but a little bit seeps out due to the amount of dust stuck to the end of the ram. Needless to say she don't see alot of miles, but they ones she does are rough. I'm also still running the Ford P/S pump (strongly against Matt's advice) which isn't capable of putting out high flow or pressure. Oh, & I got my system around Feb of 03 to give you a date on the ram.

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

Wow, can't believe all these problems. Matt's a great guy with some of the best customer service I've run across. He treated me great, and even when faced with design conflicts on my truck, things that were not his problem, he worked diligently to help find a solution. Since then everything has been great with my setup, no problems at all...

But still, with all these problems, I feel bad about all the people I recommended to use his setup. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'm sure Matt will take care of it, but I'm amazed at the multiple attempts to fix and repeated failures... I'm sure it sucks to be stuck with the problems, and whatever happened to Matt's product, I'm sure it sucks to be him trying to find a solution. I just can't resolve my experience with what all you guys are posting… /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

All I can say is, "Good luck to you all!"

[/ QUOTE ]There's no problems with the 2" ram that I'm aware of, only the 1-1/2

The question to everyone, is what do I do now /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Thanks for the info J, I'll be calling Matt tomorrow, to see what he thinks. What's Esteban been up to? He's a cool dude.

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

First, Matt has the best customer service in the business and he's a great guy all around. When a seal in my ram shredded sending debris through the system he offered to tow my truck home and go completely through the system. Justin tells the story just about the way it happened above. With the dedication he offers his customers, there is no reason to worry about any purchase made from WTOR not being made 100% right one way or another.

That said, my ram (#2) does leak and it is a 1.5. My neighbor went with the 1.75 and his leaks at the same spot (around the end cap just where the shaft enters the cylinder). As Matt explained it to me, they are aware of the problem and have been working on a redesign. I'd guess they've got it figured out by now. I'm just too lazy (and to be honest, a bit embarrassed to expect him to swap it out after what he did for me).

I say let Matt make it right for you by replacing it again, or ask him to replace after he is sure they have the bugs worked out. I've not heard of any box issues with the WTOR system before.

Finally, let's be clear.... the Redneck Ram is the right price and does the job. Go compare the price tag to that other name brand setup! And as I understand it from others i know, that expensive system doesn't come with any where near the quality of customer service.

I still recommend the WTOR setup whenever anybody asks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ] What! This doesn't bother you? I don't know where you wheel, but out here the trail systems are being scrutinized by BLM, USFS, and the State of Arizona. Power steering fluid all over the trail is UNACCEPTABLE to me. I'm just glad /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif all my leaking seals happened in the garage, not on the trail.

I'll talk to him tomorrow about all that. guaranteed.

After reading what I wrote, I hope I don't come off as being mean, I'm just frustrated about the whole thing. I like to do things right the first time, and forget about it... that's just me.

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

Yeah, I would say talk to Matt again too.

And when I said I "couldn't believe it", I meant as in "surprise", not that I really "didn't believe it".

Re: Sooo....Who has a 1-1/2\" ram from WTO that DOESN\'T leak???

just to be clear, my shredded seal problem did not cause any leaking and I did not lose any fluid on the trail. It was the seal on the piston.

as for the leak, mine is very minor. a small handful of kitty litter keeps my driveway clean for the month or so between runs /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

btw... you're mean! /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Update 8/9/04

OK, here's the scoop, just got off the phone with Matt. As he does have one of the best customer service attitudes, he will help me whatever it takes, even if he has to go to the machine shop and personally build one for me /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif. He has never had 4 rams in a row that have had problems, so my situation is unique. It may be possible that my setup is somehow binding, and causing the ram to leak. I sent him pictures of the 60 histeer setup I have, for him to evaluate. I have no doubt this will get resolved.

Re: Update 8/9/04

cool deal, hope you and him get it worked out and no more leaks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Update 8/9/04

I really was going to buy the thing, but i want to make sure its all right. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Has anyone had problems with the 2inch then??? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Just curious, Jacob /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
