soooo...

to be honest, I didn't even know about the "squaty" arse-end ones..... :haha:

all the ones I had been seeing where level...... like this one I just saw.....

full

A buddy of mine actually made some of the suspension parts for that rig for Sema. Its on bags etc. Kinda cool on the fab side of things, but the overall rig is ugly as shit imo.

I just couldn't bring myself to tell him that because he does great fab work...

:bourbon rant:

I don't know.. it's not that I'm a dinosaur.. well, yeah, I am, but still.... I kinda think I know what looks good... certain things come along that I don't mind, till people flog em to death.. ratrods where cool till EVERYTHING became a patina satin deal.... SOME cars/builds look good lowered with semi-low profiles, Pro-Toured...... but does EVERY build need to be that way?

I often like a murdered out look, always been a fan of satin looks.. Murder Nova's cool....

I wont even go into the homometal thing..

it's kinda why I pretty much hate everything Gas Monkey builds, but actually like about 75% of what Counts Customs does..... surprisingly... he'll throw a standard sidewall tire at a muscle car, few modern and custom touches.. and it comes out badarse.... they did a sweet orange/black first gen firebird for some star that I really dug...

whereas a Foose throws EVERYTHING on 24"s and rubberbands.... fug you sellout...

I consider it my purpose to remind/rewind society back to some build ideas that never go out of style... and Mutt is a perfect example... anyone with a Bro Dozer sitting next to my rig thinks their chit is remotely as cool, is a sheepy tool... bring it focker... IMO of course.. ;)

Fads come and go in the automotive world just like anything else. The Bro-dozers are the current fad just like the full blown fast and furious ricers 10 years ago. One thing I can bank on is these "Bro's" are not "Built not Bought" type. No innovation, just build me one that looks like that one. There has to be some shops installing these lift kits, selling the wheels and tires laughing their asses off making money charging a mint for the work. This fad will fade with time. Then something else will replace it.

These Bro's are posers. Wannabe car guys.

Now the Gas Monkey goons are going to be lost without Aaron. He really had a good eye and wanted to make stuff that ran hard. His Pikes Peak Falcon is bad ass. The show has been advertising for a "car builder" for almost a month as a casting call. I predict the builds get sillyer and less hard core as they move forward. The show will fizzle out from there. It's following the same pattern of American Chopper for sure. Start out small, build a couple of sweet projects that get the name on the map, market the snot out of it and have huge growth fast. Then the drama of the builder vs the boss. Builder quits, show dies by the next season.

well said.... I should postface the drunk rant with a "I do like some of the things Aaron was doing" maybe it's Richard that makes me hate the show so much :haha:

Richard Rawlings is literally the biggest douche on TV. A true poser and gives a bad name to every other classic car guy out there. Will literally screw anyone and everyone to maintain his "non married" super bro lifestyle. F that douche. Fantomworks is the only car related show I will even entertain. The owner is legit, takes serious pride in his work, and isn't a complete douche from birth till death.

The guy on Fantomworks is honest. Not some clown like Richie Rich. The show is on Velocity and the biggest difference is the fact that he's not trying to "flip" cars to customers or at the auctions. Fantomworks have customer's that bring the cars to him to restore or customize. NOBODY is bringing their car to Gas Monkey to have it built. But the best thing about Fantomworks is the fact that it's true about the timeline to restore something. Some cars take over a year to do. Plus the guy shows when they find deeper issues and bring the customer in on it, even when they screw up. They were working on a 57 Chevy 4dr wagon that they were supposed to repaint the roof and replace the headliner. That was all the customer had a budget for but the guy stripping the roof didn't get the memo and started grinding the paint off the rest of the car. They fessed up to the mistake right away and gave the customer the choice of what to color to paint the car. They kept to the agreed budget since they messed up. That's real. Not the scripted reality on Gas Monkey.

Yep....That is a great show for restoring cars and working with the customer.

Hopefully this will go like the Harley trend some years ago. They'll find a new fad leaving thousands of hardly used mall crawlers out there to be picked up cheap.

FIFY

yep! gotta figure in the cost of de-broing them into the price...

I watch FantomWorks once in a while. I like the builds that they do, but a lot of the time the owner's personality(at least what i see on the tv) makes me want to punch him in the mouth. He comes across as pretty abrasive in my opinion. Fast N Loud is good for flashy cars, but the fake "i'm gonna lose everything if this car doesn't sell for X dollars/doesn't get done by tuesday" drama is such crap. HATE the trucks with huge wheels with tiny sidewall tires that stick completely outside the fender.

Fast n loud isn't bad if you hit the MUTE button. I can watch it that way, and do actually like the cars. I didn't know Aaron left..... That'll definitely kill the show, possibly the garage.

We have some of the bro-dozer's around here which I find odd being in Iowa... There's at least 3 around with the low azz end. And quite a few more with 8" lift, 35" rubber bands, wheels wider than the tires even are, bling everywhere, and even 12" stacks on a few. :doah:

It's the 80's wild paint jobs, 16" lifts, and 40 shocks on a suspension with 2" of flex but in a different generation lol

I agree, the owner overreacts to everything. Just hearing him yap when I work in the garage forces me to change the channel. Same goes for graveyard carz, mr mopar is a complete tool.

i can't watch graveyard cars.....Mr. Mopar's constant "what is the option code for this knob on this car" crap turned me off to the show. He has a superiority complex as far as i can see....he has to show that he knows more about everything than everyone else there. It's great that you know what the options mean and can get a car back to original, know what is missing or what's wrong when you get a car in, but for God's sake, stop running your mouth about every little detail!

Don't know if any of you guys have seen it, but i like "Bitchin Rides". Yeah they're high dollar builds, but they all have seem to be be done tastefully with a lot of detail. The shop seems to be pretty laid back, they all have fun and sometimes its at the owners expense, with him laughing right along with them. Looks like it would be a pretty cool place to work.

They build nice stuff, no timeline with a limited amount of drama added.
