Ok here's the scoop. My nephew is over in iraq right now and is returning in mid to late jan. he has a F150 4x4 with a 302 & 38's not a good combo. I have a F250 frame and 1 ton rears a 460 & 4spd and t-case. i want to have the truck finished for when he returns home. Problem is i cant find 8" front leaf springs for the f250 or f350. pissing me off. Anyone ever find these? im also thinking that since im running short on time i should just measure the length between the eyes on the springs that are on it and look for simialer ones for chevys. does anyone know if the springs are close to the same length? im ready to put this thing together but i need to have the lift on it so i can figure out my body lines and such.

Thanks for any info

Damn shame ford has to be so retarded, wonder if he would mind if i scraped his truck and built him a chevy:rolleyes:

What years are the F150 and 250?

Depends on what years you have to work with is the determining factor to the aftermarket springs.

I'm a Furd bonehead.................and if you called me with this question I'd just hang up on you...................

I sell new stock parts so there's no way I could help anyway................

you don't need a furd bonehead, you need a spring bonehead!

what you need to do is call spring makers.............they can make springs from scratch in any length/strength/arch you want............

Out here we have a place called National Spring, pretty popular with off-roaders, hot-rodders and racers alike...........they can make anything

Quick look at NTW and they have a 6" lift for one. Get a shackle conversion, think they are good for 3", then a zero rate and maybe a longer shackle, that should get you 8".

its a 89 f250 frame and a 95 f150 body that im putting on it
The tallest springs for an F250 of those years is 6" that I know of. Only Superdutys run a taller spring than 6".

I know you may be kidding but don't bash Ford too much as there are a few members here who do like them. I'm one of them as a matter of fact. I like the '73 to '79 trucks a lot. My very first truck was a '75 F100 4x4. My favorite Ford is the Highboy F250.

I don't think you can go that high with the TTB front end without dropping everything down.

Im just using an f250 frame, im using a f350 (dana 60) front axle. Im not totally against fords, and the "furd boneheads" refer to a ford truck forum. None of them had a clue. Im so used to the wealth of knowledge on here that i was kinda shocked how clueless they were on that site! (acctually I took apart my F350 so that i could build my nephew a stronger offroad truck.) I have an 87 f250 4x4 that im gona use as my beat around and tow vehicle, as i gave my nephew my 460 i need to find another motor to stuff in it, but that will wait till next year. thanks for all the info though ive found quite a bit of places that make custom springs. not too cheap though, i can get a set of 8" front springs made for bout 700.00. gona keep checking around for some cheaper ones though.

the springs are in the neighborhood of 50"-51" long. if you want something better, do a shackle flip (f350's and 250's come with front shackles for the front springs). http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/ makes a kit if you want a kit. or you could just do it your self.

and IMO got one thing right for sure, HP axles are the way to go. better driveshaft angles and stronger gears. and for me, i like to have the diff on the drivers side, because it is easier for me to know where it is in relation to what ever i dont want to hit it.

Hey thanks for the info im gona try and find some springs and shakles and go that route i think. dont have much time with the holidays to get custom springs made.
