I got new shocks for my truck with the quad setup and they seem to slightly rub down at the bottom mount. Is there supposed to be some kind of spacer between them?

You replaced both fronts in teh dual setup? Most guys on here have opted to remove one all together, and run one on a side. Shock technology has changed since this truck came out, and there are really no good reasons to keep the factory duals

Yeah I have read that on here but wanted to do it anyway. I will be pulling my boat with it more than offroading so it can't hurt.

Rough ride.
x2 unless you got shocks valved for dual setup. If you run two single-valved shocks you get more compression damping than you need (more effort to push the axle up) as well as rebound damping, keeping the axle "tucked" longer than needed and producing a harsh ride.

Now Bilstein makes 5100 or 5125 shocks with valving for dual setup, IIRC its 170/60 compared to 255/70, first number being the compression and second being rebound.

I did buy Bilsteins but not the 5100s. I ordered the application specific shocks they had listed for aux setup the yellow/ blue HDs.

My towing issue with the boat is reverse of a normal trailer. All the weight of the boat is in the rear (v-8, outdrive, 30 gal fuel tank) so when it bounces the tongue is trying to pull up on rear of the truck not down. The boat is asfar forward on the trailer as it can go but it is what it is.

Seems like a poorly designed trailer. Normally they will move the axles back to try and create some tongue weight. Can you put some gear in the front?

Shocks won't really fix this problem. But you will LOVE those shocks, i just put them on my burb.

Well I don't like having the same thing everybody else does so thats why I love my Ranger. Ranger did an experiment with putting I/O in some of their bigger water boats but didn't sell very many. At the time Ranger owners scoffed at the price of the setup but with the current cost of outboards I think they had the right idea a little too early. The Ranger trail trailer though is the exact same as the ones used for the 21ft outboard version though. My boat is the original money pit and the Jimmy is now money pit number 2.
