right rear inside quarter panel....if I recall correctly there wasnt any other factory spot....
I took mine and refabbed a new one and plated the floor and fenderwheel so that it could carry a large tire... stock one worked for up to a 31 inch tire but even that would tear up the sheet metal over time

did any come with a tire mount on the outside like a S-10 blazer had
Only if it was pulled off of a newer model one. Want to buy one fro your 79? I ahve one if you want it, comes with the tire cover and all bolts.
how much and how hard would it be to instal it. What years did the external mounts come on full size blazers?

I don't mean to hijack your post, but I have a '72 with what looks like a factory tailgate tire mount. Does anyone know if this is sturdy enough to hold a 33' when wheeling? I am getting ready to take off the 31's and put the 33's.
