I'm in the process of installing a tire carrier on an 87 suburban and have pretty much every part besides the upper and lower mounting brackets for the rear quarter. I found an older thread that has the dimensions for the tubing from the main part of the carrier, but was wondering if anyone with a hickey/valley carrier would be able to measure the brackets for me. From the pics I've seen it looks like the inner and outer attachments the the body are made of 1.25" x .25" thick flat stock, and the welded on tabs that the tubing bolts to are a little wider, maybe 1.5"? I just wanna be sure I'm making stout enough attachment points. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
