I spent the evening swapping out plugs and wires on the 454 in my K3500. Man what a job. :doah:

But the good thing is it starts MUCH easier now and the idle is a lot smoother. On the road at freeway speeds I couldn't tell a huge difference but I did notice it when merging onto the freeway... at least according to the butt dyno. :D

Anyways I'm a noob on plug analysis so what do these look like? Just your average, everyday high mile thrashed plugs? I wasn't sure if they normally get this dark.

they look alot better than the ones i pulled out of my k5.:D
they look to be in decent shape. they arent to black

i keep saying this over and over.

if you have somthing in the 96 and newer year range stick with the oem plug.

lots of idle / surging / crappy running and starting problems are found as of wrong brand of plug.

the enginers design them right down to a fine point these days. you change the plug it will act a bit diffrent and throw it off just a bit.

most people dont care but its hard to change some of them now a days so do it once.

and you plugs look like thay were burnning ok not to bad.

x1000. And I will take it further and say that for almost any year of car, the oem plug is best. People don't understand that Splitfires, e3's, or those ones with 4 electrodes, still only put out 1 spark. Those along with other aftermarket plugs are not engineered to work in the engine you are putting them in, they are all essentially the same plug just made in the correct dimensions to fit your motor. For a Chevy, or any GM, I'm gonna use AC plugs everytime.
