Hey guys.
My first post on this forum. =+)
Anyway I'm currently running a set of Moroso wires on my 85 GMC.
Moroso 73607 - Moroso Ultra 40 Race Ignition Wire Sets
(wont let me post URL's yet, sorry)
My problem is that my header recently melted one of these wires at the intersection of the boot, to the wire itself, (they don't appear well shielded in that spot, and no it wasn't touching the header). Also a few other of the cables show mild heat damage on the jacketing, so I'm hestiant to buy a second set. (They aren't cheap.)
Anyway, I'm thinking about changing out to metal jacketed cables from Taylor.
Taylor Cable 91017 - Taylor Street Series Full Metal Jacket Ignition Wire Sets
My question is does the metal jacketing really provide better protection, than the Moroso? There doesn't appear to be any heat rating for these Taylor cables that I can find, whereas the Moroso quote 600 degrees. Additionally the metal jacketed cables seem to require a ground kit be installed, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these cables / installing the ground kit? (Is it really needed?)
Any advice, on which is the better wire set?
Thanks
Jason
