spark plug wire suggestions

Oreilly's chain auto. I would look up the part number b4 going in. Because around they just say they cant order it. I found it in the MSD catalog in store. Do not use one like this. It is a piece of junk

Using the ACCEl 5000 series of wires is a good choice for a mild build. You don't want to use too low of a resistance such as the MSD for an everyday driver. Typically something that low of a resistance will work great for a race car and a street driven car, but you have a truck that goes off-road and must return home! Also consider that the stock GM plug wires that came on the Blazer when new were probaly in the 1000-2000 ohms per foot of resistance. So a good upgrade would be the ACCEL's at 500 ohms per foot. They will be much better than stock, with better materials for longer durability and lower resistance for more fire to the plugs. Going to a race wire with 40-150 ohms per foot of resistance will bring more power but is unneccassary for what you are doing with this build. ACCEL Universal fit wires, cut to your own length is part #5041 (Good), #8031 (Better) or 9001 (Best).

Does this make sense?

I work for MSD so I'd say use the MSD wires. Not only do they offer the lower resistance rating but they also have a high temperature rating as well. Simply put, the lower the resistance of the wire the more spark energy can reach the plug thus burning the air/fuel mixture more efficiently. Will you see a difference in gas mileage or power, probably not but you will be investing your money in a quality proven wire that is used from daily driven vehicles to 8000hp top fuel dragsters. If you purchace the universal set of wires that you cut and splice yourself the crimping tool comes with them. If you just need the tool shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll send you the crimper.

i put a dui hei in my engine and it was blowin the stock type plug wires apart, it would split the wire about a foot long and have that white silky lookin stuff hangin all out, i put the red msd wires, iirc 8.5mm, on and havent had a problem since.

Philly87, sorry man wasn't trying to down play MSD at all. They are good wires as well.

The wook!

No problem Wook. Simple fact is MSD put a ton of time and effort into developing these plug wires. Old school racers will tell you that they would use what's called a "sold core" spark plug wire to get as much power to the plug as possible. This was great until a little thing called electronics came into play. The problem with solid core wires is they offer no electronic noise supression and therefore interfere with things such as raidos, factory ecu's, even aftermarket fuel injections. The great thing about MSD wires is they offer superior noise suppression with extreme low resistance therefore they work on any application imaginable. Both my Blazer and daily driven 2000 Silverado run them with no issues and great results. If any of you guys ever need anything give me a shout and I'll be more than willing to help out in any way possible. :waytogo:
