So, I did the dip switch mod on the old DRAC & touched up the solder points to see if that would change anything. It didnt. I was thinking that buying any DRAC on ebay would work & I wanted to do the dip switch mod to make it adjustable for any setup that might be coming. but ended up paying more for the matching AGG DRAC. I wanted a good reference point to base the rest of my trouble shooting if the replacement DRAC didnt fix the problem. Well, it didnt. After I bought the DRAC, I found a VSS on ebay for $12. I took a gamble on the twelve bucks shipped as the GM part replacement sensor was almost a hundo. The sensor arrived one day after the DRAC & when I put it, success! speedo was back & odo was also working. The calibration seemed off with the stock AGG DRAC (tuned for small tires) so I put in the modified/touched up DRAC & speedo seems to be working perfectly. no more check engine light either. I guess I'll keep the unmodified DRAC as a backup.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
If i would have found that cheaper VSS first, I really could of got off cheap. But, I did get a better calibrated speedo out of the extra work.
