I am looking for some insight to a problem I am having on my 78 k5 Blazer , I have a speedometer ratio adapter to adjust for my tire size and I have stripped two of the adapter shafts, I have cleaned the speedometer cables and lubed with graphite, and it still happens I am wondering if maybe my cruise control box is binding to cause this or if my speedometer head is causing this I would appreciate any input form anyone who may have advice. Thank you

yes the cruise box can do this, as a matter I'd be very surprised if it wasn't. This box didn't last, and were failing under warranty. Even while the trucks were still being made with this cruise system only remanufactured was available to replace them.
You can take them apart and lube them, repairing them to work the cruise control is 50/50 success.

What (and where) is this cruise control box you’re talking about? Mechanical Speedo with np241 here.

It's under the dash on your 89.

yes they were all on drivers fender, this the mechanical cruise control, not the electronic cruise control.
