SPG Toolbox...Build

I said that 50 g's ago.... :doah: :haha:

As unrealistic as this sounds, I've ordered most of what i'll need.

Not worried about small misc. tools here and there, its the buying of $150+ sets that I want to be done with.

Then again, also glad i'm not addicted to nicer tools than craftsman :haha:

my biggest issue has always been not only do I spin wrenches for a living, but I've always been a body guy too... :doah:

Currently, I'm focusing on becoming a specialist in female bodies instead.

Don't have time to work on automotive bodies too, but it would probably be the cheaper of the two types to play with :haha:

It's funny, I haven't spent close to that on all the cars I have owned since 2000 when I came here, but I have spent that much so far on my tools.
But on the other hand, they have saved me just as much in repairs especially with my big rig where each repair would be in the $2-3k:doah:

I can only say good bless Suncor for supplying all my tools now. Although, I had never planned to have my land yacht of a box actually in my garage. I don't have any room for it actually, so its sitting right in the middle of the way.

Got my set of Channel Lock pliers, as well as a nice set of Vise Grips.

The new Vise Grip brand locking pliers don't have a standard release trigger. Its a bummer, cause they require 2 hands to pull apart

So, bringing this back up to life.

My SPG box is doing fine, a few drawer slides on heavier drawers have come loose occasionally, but nothing that isn't fixable.

Overall, happy with the box for my use.

That being said, Costco has a Kirkland "brand" box now, less than $1k, rough bedliner type coating, seems beefier than the one i have.

Definitely worth a look for a home use type person, like myself.

I just spent the last few minutes reading a few pages about this toolbox on the garage journal link. What does that mean when this is how I'm spending my evening :haha:

Looks nice, and for the price too not bad. Every other post was crying about some particular part. I dig the box compartment, they made a good point, plastic boxes or oils/solvents, or pistol, wallet, etc. If you don't like it, don't buy it? Bunch of crybabies :D

I need a new box, but I'm outa the game and don't need a new box.

But I need a new box. :thumb:

For the price, mine isn't bad either. Not going to last forever, but it'll do a good long while before i have issues.

I'll need to pick up another bottom cab to put together for a potential new job soon. I won't be bringing one of my big boxes up. Just something expendable. I might look at that costco box. As one. I'm

Costco also had a nice horizontal lower in SS with butcher block top.

I just read through this thread, and I had to laugh when I saw the Hanson trays. You have no idea how many mechanics I have had to show that the sockets go open end down. So don't feel too bad.

Oh, and yeah, my wrenches go up to 2".
