Spring Help - Need to Lower '77 K5

You do realize that I want to say, "see?? Just like mine!!"

:haha::whistle:

I am glad that you got to confirm some things.

I didn't consider the crossover causing an issue. I can always change it back to a more traditional setup. Bottom line is the bumper needs to come down. I'm going to measure the spring depth based on thr bushings centerline. I'll post when I get that.

The support mount near the rear springs are part of the roll cage.
Crossover Steering is one of the finest mods you can do. I would bend over backwards and jump through hoops to keep it.

Good News Maybe. I came across an 84 CUCV with stock suspension today. I followed the guy all the way home and he said I could measure the distance from the top of his axle to the frame. It was 7.5"

That would suggest my 77 K5 has 8.5" MORE lift than this guy. The 4" lift may be the exact thing I need with the shim plate removed. The CUCV was 27" from the ground at the point I measured the frame. Mine is ~35.5" which nicely equals 8.5" difference. The front spring perch as a shim that is about 1/2" thick so if I go with a 4" lift and remove the shim I could have a net reduction of almost 5" which puts me in the GREEN!!!!

Did you notice the cucv having a 3 lead front spring?
They wanted it to be a 3/4 ton and that caused it to be even higher.
My 3/4 ton suburban with 3 leaves is 1" taller.
The bottom of the spring is flush with the centerline of the eyelets.
And yes I new where you were getting at and told you that d60 is 1" taller.
But unless you were planning on changing to a d44/10 bolt it was irrelevant.
Changing to a 4" spring will net you 4" drop

I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on the CUCV. I am going with the 4" lift which would actually net me 4.5" + another 1/2 - 5/8" by removing the wedge shim. ORD has been great and they are working up a quote with all needed parts.

Will PA let you title it as a car and do cars have a bumper requirement? Or can you plate it heavier and does that have a higher bumper limit?

Strangely it is registered as a car right now. I'm going for a "collector car" designation which exempts emissions but not safety...hence the need for proper bumpers. The inspection station will measure the bumpers regardless of car or truck designation. Strange system here
