whats the difference between 1/2 3/4 and 1 on springs both front and rear? are 1/2 & 3/4 52" rear and ton 56"? and is the front 48" on both the 1/2 and 3/4 and the ton bigger or are they all the same on the front?

all frts are 48", rear 1/2 got 52" or 56". all 3/4 & 1 ton rears are 56" this is true on the 73-91 solid axle trucks

actually i think most 3/4 ton trucks got 52" rears. i have had 5 of the 73-87 year range and all had 52's. i had 2 3/4 ton suburbans and both had 56's.

Note that you're a special case, as crewcabs, even 3/4's, all have the 1-ton frames. At least, this was the case in the 70's, donno about your newfangled ones :D

Easy thing, measure the spring perch spacing on your rear axle.

i had heard that all the crew cabs did have the one ton frame. but its cool that all fronts are the same. whats the difference in the 1/2, 3/4 and ton front springs? each have a leaf more than the other?

i think 1 tons had 3" wide springs, front anyways. 1/2 3/4's had 2-1/2

All of our trucks have 3" wide front springs. Aftermarket lift springs are 2 1/2".

1/2 tons 52s or some had 56s
3/4 tons, most 56s, some 52s
1 tons, 56s

Front springs can be two, three, or four leaf from the factory. My K10 originally had 3 leaf front springs because it had that listed as an option.

all stock front springs are 3" wide. there are 2 leaf packs and 3 leaf packs, both can be found in 1/2 and 3/4. i think the 1 tons got 3 leaf only, haven't seen to many of those to know for sure.

the rears are 52" and 56", 52s are found it blazers 1/2 ton trucks/burbs, some 3/4 ton trucks and some 3/4 ton burbs

the 56" were found in all 1 tons and some 3/4 ton trucks and burbs, it depends on the GVW of that particular vehicle.

i have seen 52" 1 ton springs made specifically for tow trucks

sh%t sorry!

84 chevy k10 has it right

alot of 70s 10 series got 56" in the big 10 and heavy half days

late 70s k20 alot of them were 52" rears

Thread hijack!

Where can I find specs on spring rates and centerpin alignment etc? I am thinking obout having some springs made for the rear. I have Ferd 57's and want something a tad stiffer and the center pin hole in the right spot without having to drill another in it.
