Years ago I had VW Beetles and it was all the rage to break off the hub cap clips from the stock rims and install them backwards,so larger tires would fit and not rub the inner wheel well...the first few miles you had to stop and re-tighten the lug bolts,the rim holes were "coined" so they would not loosen installed as intended,but when you flipped them around,the bolts would work loose until they made their own taper in the rim,then they would stay tight..seen a few that flew off though!..
I'm not sure I'd trust an 8 lug rim put on backwards like that on the street,but I suppose if the lugs were tightened enough they would stay on ok..
