I just missed posting on the thread which shall not be named. lol
Here's one that could be worth the big bucks, who knows besides the buyer and seller.

Post up squares that are medium to upper end rides that most of us just get to look at.

Yes. That caliber of truck is what is going to bring big money. Either a full, high end, frame off like that or a real, sat in a garage under a cover for 30 years survivor. Neither is worth it to me. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed. My favorite old trucks have just become extra popular somehow.

I wouldn't spend half that on any vehicle. The post is just for the higher priced trucks. I figured most guys here are not looking for this type of truck. Just a fun little exercise.

That truck is a beauty. I saw it earlier. Odd that they did not include any underhood pictures,

I think the the only big dollar trucks are the 1-ton square body 4X4 trucks with 1-ton running gear. The 1-ton 4X4 square body truck was very expensive when they where new off the lot, which is why there are so few of them in existence because the average person does not have that kind of money. My 1991 V3500 Silverado Crew Cab was a $25,000 out the door truck when it was new that comes to about $50,000 in todays money.

Love my k5...I unfocked some wiring on it today.
I am so glad @longbedder caught that hinkey wiring before I left CA.

Everytime I get asked if I want to sell it I just grin and say no.

I feel the same about my K5. I wouldn't sell mine either. My 77 is priceless lol.

It's kind of strange what makes some of these squares worth so much and others are dirt cheap. I paid $3,500 for mine and it needed new heads and away we went. I believe it's worth significantly more, but how much? Who knows.

But then you get trucks like this one.

Same year, same color, same trim as mine. Only difference is it's a 6.2L. Sold for over $26,000.

Or this one.

An 87 with a half-way decent respray. Stripper model with a 305 and a 3-speed. And it's poised to go for $10,000 or more, since these auctions tend to really take off on the last day or the last few hours.

According to classic.com, the average sales price for a K5 at auction over the last 5 years has been $29,000...

That's crazy.

I really think it's just timing and area. My 1991 V3500 sold for under $10k but it was just before the covid bs. Who knows now.

Average auction price doesn't really mean much. Nobody auctions an average truck with some issues. Its only the nicest ones that end up at auction.

Totally get what you are saying on pricing though, its fairly random.
Not very long ago a square that needed heads would struggle to get $1000.

The high prices are probably worth the money to someone who can't turn a wrench or shake a can of paint.
