Squirrel, the 1977 Wagoneer

A 4500 car should have woodgrain trim.
Gave it a fresh starter, but it’s still a big sluggish. I’ll triple check all the connections. I wonder if there’s marginal contact in the solenoid.

Meanwhile, all this now works, reliably.

I also fixed a seized lug/stud, the rear brakes need adjusting, still needs a top, and the filler foams quickly and shuts off the pump.

It’s a hoot to drive.

So for now you're still running the AMC 360?

I remember when those things first started being manufactured, and they where all the rage with soccer moms.

That switch pro set up looks like a clean way to do a switch panel.

So it can handle you?
Easily. I’m also powered by coffee.

New top:

Spare setup and camp gear containment so nothing gets loose and grounds to the battery.

And something tells me I’m going to need a pull here and there. I’ll get these in today.

Almost time to start loading up.

Handy dandy Pelican. The weather in Canyonlands is an unknown, so we're going in prepared for moisture.

Good plan. Especially this year. We had low twenties this week here. And more storms coming.

What did you use for the top?
Sunbrella fabric, made in Charlotte NC. It’s a marine fabric, and it pretty good at beading and shedding water.

Yeah, got to put some antifreeze in it. PO only had water.

The PO also had the fitech fuel filters backwards. The 10 micron was first in line then the 40. Cleaned and corrected the order, and no more full throttle stumbling.

Found and “fixed” a vacuum leak, did the final tidy on the wiring, adjusted the rear drums, and peeled most of the crap bedliner off the driver door. Then, maintenance on the LB7.

And the fitech screen died, so I’m at summit right now picking up a replacement cable, and a new screen and cable if that doesn’t work. Like the spare distributor and wires, I’ll return what I don’t use.

Ready to hit the road tomorrow. Now I just need to pack my personal gear.

Did you just call them with the measurements for the top? Or is it made for something else and you improvised?

If the cable and screen did not fix it, check for 12v at the cable. It’s a common issue when the 12v source wire breaks free from the board so the display won’t turn on. If so, strip the cable back and add a 12v ignition source and you’ll be back in business. My crawler has been this way for a couple years now.
