Stall Speed?

So I'm rebuilding my 700r4 and was wondering what stall speed should I get, I have a mild 454 this is the cam http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=395&sb=0 I have 33s with 2.73 gears but will be getting 4.10 soon, it's mostly a dune trucks so it will see some rpms (for a BB anyway) any suggestions as to what stall speed, stock, 2200, 2500? thanks in advance

I'd say around 1700-2000. Too high and it doesnt feel 'snappy', it'll just feel like its slipping or loosing traction all the time. It will also heat up the tranny too much. Once you get 4.10 gears with 33's 1700-2000 stall will be perfect for quick launches combined with the 700r4's higher 1st gear ratio. Big block's got alot of low end torque anyway so it should be in the sweet spot.

I got a 1700-2100 stall summit racing brand TC for $100 on their site. on a K20 With a slightly massaged 350, T-400, 3.73 gears with 37" tires, it launches pretty good and can almost chirp the tires but I REALLY need to get 4.56 gears then it will be in the sweet spot. I love how the engine revs up to 1900 rpm when you gas it from a stop. but these 3 73 gears are killing me.

i say keep it stock or just a couple hundred rpms higher. i no the reasoning behind a higher stalls etc. but big blocks have torque,even if the cam is set for higher revs. ull be able to get up and go with a TC thats only 200-300 higher than stock. and u dont risk slipping too much and heating it up if drive it normally

remember too that big cubes big torque will raise the stall on a given converter, so be conservative.

What is the stock stall anyway? I have a friend selling a newly rebuilt convertor with 2200 stall for a few bucks cheaper than a stock one, is that too much?

Stock is around 1400 for gas and even lower for diesels
