started making my bumper update 9/15(pics)

air tanks on a truck/tractor or a compresor that pumps air into a tank mounted on a truck ( like a repair truck ) are all ASME coded and tested for a certan burst pressure( usally twice the rating ) , this is why they have air tanks that are legel.

the bumpers that are made into air tanks are not ASME coded, this is why the cops could bust you, but come on how many cops have or know this type of info, but if you do dont make it obvious like air fittings or gauges out in the open for them to see then its no big deal, jason.

Thats right, they do code bottles. I know our breathing air tanks, fire extinguishers and in the last couple of years, propane tanks have to have dates on them and have to be hydrostatic tested every so many years. I believe thats why they changed the fittings on propane tanks. The old tanks did not have dates on them and they wont refill them anymore.

Like MarcS said, the big rigs tanks are usually mounted up and out of the way. Bumpers as air tanks are in the immediate impact zone. So if someone were to rear end you or you rear ended someone, an end cap or piece of the bumper may be propelled by a bursting tank and possibly injuring someone. Not saying it will burst, but it is a possibility.

The new fittings on the propane tanks have a new check valve in them so that you can't overfill them. The olds one did not have the same type of check valve {hijack off}

ASME coded DOT thing :confused: Do you stay under the speed limit :crazy: Are all you propain tanks the new ones??? Do you put them in the car or trunk with you when you go get them filled?? If you read up on DOT you can never have one In a car or trunk... You need to put In on the roof, LOLOL :D
