Went to fire up the Jimmy and noticed the starter was running on and the key would not turn it off. I had to stop it by the battery disconnect. Once the motor was running I had to shut off the disconnect and the motor would stay running but without any charge going back to the battery, and the key would shut the motor off as normal. I'm thinking the problem is the starter? Ant thoughts on this?

so your starter stays engaged with the flex plate, and you need to disconnect the battery cable to disengage the starter ? Then the battery is not being charged but engine is running ? What happens if the cable is replaced on the battery after the starter disengages from the flex plate ? Does it re-engage ?
To answer your question, Yes the starter is bad, at the least the solenoid, if it disengages with the battery cable removed. If it didn't disengage with battery cable removed it would be the starter drive to flex plate clearance

This is what I figured. Yes if I switch the battery back on I hear the starter re-engage. Thx Wes :waytogo:
