So what is everbody doing affer the billings canyon run? Staying in grand Junction or heading to moab? Almost seems like a toss up, just wandering what others are planning.

We will probably stay at a friends house in Grand Junction Wednesday, run the easier Bangs Canyon Thursday, and if it is not too late, go to Moab Thursday evening. Don't want to be rushed Friday to get out to Area BFE, set up at a cabin, and then to the BBQ.

Depends on the time of day we finish up. I would prefer getting into Moab that day. To be honest, I hadn't really thought about it much, though.

I plan on heading into Moab afterwards. I will be staying at area BFE thursday night and Slickrock Campground Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Thats what we where thinking too. Just trying to plan a head a little, I've got a handful of things going on between now and then.

I got reservations to be in Moab that thursday night. Where is a good place to stay in grand junction wednesday night?

The trail isn't all that close to anything.

With the way the rain situation is around here I would either head to Moab or get a Hotel room in GJ. I am thinking that there will be no open flame in the state of Colorado allowed by then.

Something around 24 Rd. down to Mesa Mall would be along the way from Billings to Moab.

I have never stayed in a Hotel in GJ so i don't know good places to stay. Maybe Tyrone can help

Which direction out of grand junction is the trail?
Basically to the south west. Not far outside of city limits, just that there aren't any services in that area as it's far from the Interstate and highways.

Matt the reason I said 24 rd, Mesa Mall area is that is the "in town" area that is the most likely to have hotels, and be near/on the way between moab and the trail. Anything west of there would work for hotels or camping. Fruita, Rabbit Valley etc.

Looks like the Hampton Inn or Roadway Inn near the Broadway bridge or the KOA on Route 50 would be close to the way out there?

Are you talking about the roadway inn on first and Rood? If so, I don't reccommend it. Never stayed there, but don't do it. I would look on Horizon Drive. That's the hotel area that also has restaurants, fast food and easy access to I-70.

Thanks for the heads up. The Roadway inn didn't have good reviews on the google, the Hampton did and is in the same area but was more $.

The Hampton is newer but access to it is not the greatest. I am assuming you have a towrig? The KOA would be fine for you, the one on 24 Rd. that miniwally spoke of is a Holiday Inn Express, I verified that today while driving by. The lot there is sort of small. I still think check Horizon Drive area.

I looked and there is a La quinta in Fruita that is next tot eh truck stop and I think is easy to deal with parking.

Oops! you are right and I need to wake up as I drove past that one today too!! I had to go to the Mack dealer. There is a Wendy's, Mickey D's right there and other eateries around Fruita. The Feedlot is right close to there and is very good food IMHO.
