Staying in GJ after billings canyon?

Thanks for the help, made a cabin reservation at the KOA. Anyone else staying there Wednesday the 5th night?

It appears as though I might be sleeping in the back of the truck at the Fair grounds. :haha:

The trail isn't all that close to anything.

With the way the rain situation is around here I would either head to Moab or get a Hotel room in GJ. I am thinking that there will be no open flame in the state of Colorado allowed by then.

Something around 24 Rd. down to Mesa Mall would be along the way from Billings to Moab.

I have never stayed in a Hotel in GJ so i don't know good places to stay. Maybe Tyrone can help

Well now that I have just read the first page of this Post if someone does need help or knowledge of a Place let me know what you are looking for RV camp or Back yard or Hotel and I'll see what I can do [email protected]

After reading the next two pages lol there is a La Quinta at Fruita I can get you a little help on a room there MAYBE. There is a Camp ground there Pay type like KOA there is three other hotels there. There is a parking area North of the River Its a BLM area Horse thief Canyon you can park there for free and could camp over night... But definantly no Fires there However restrictions for fires have been lifted here. My Back yard is super small but available if you want to Rough it like that, There is a nice RV park off of 22rd I can get the name of it today if someone wants it. ALso as Brandon said there is the Fair Grounds again no Fires but its there , its also a bit in the wrong direction from Billings. Either way let me know and I'll see what I can do for ya. c-ya soon

Right now I am planning to head to Area BFE after Billings and camp there. Running Coyote Friday AM and don't want to get up early to drive.

I also got totally confused that Wednesday night is the night everyone will be arriving in GJ to run Billings on Thrusday. i myself will be sleeping in my own bed that night and driving in Thursday AM. It's about 2 hrs from my house to Billings.

So where and when is the meeting place for Billings canyon. Going to assume the meeting place is the air down area that trail damage mentions at the beginning of Bangs canyon. 8- 830 or 9 for a time?

Staying at a buddies house in GJ Wednesday night the 5th then heading to Moab after Billings run, Motel 6 in Moab. I have the same question as ssyork.

Good question. I'd like to see us start early enough to get through trail and have time to drive into Moab and get checked in and have time to go have dinner still pending and major problems.

Anyone wanna start billings earlier? Meet at trail head at say 8 or something? I guess there is trailer parking near head of bangs then drive rigs to Billings?

I'll be coming from Moab that morning, so 9 is already early for me :D

Miniwally - about how long do you think it will take to run through billings?

With the twelve or thirteen rigs it could take 5 or 6 hours. I would guess? Obviously more with any breakage.

I would say that if there are any issues that only enough people stay behind to get them taken care of and let the rest of the group go on. It's not a long trail and honestly not "hard" although it can be made harder.

Look at it this way, I may have a doctors appt. that I need to go to that day in Basalt. I'm not planning on being able to leave that appt. at roughly noon, drive to GJ and meet the group on the trail. It should be a bit over 2 hours from Docs office to trail head.

I have heard a couple of mentions of staying at the fair grounds. Is there a camp ground there or just parking in the parking lot or something? Is there a fee for parking there? I just need a place to park and sleep for the night and the fair grounds sounds like it might be a little quieter than the Wallmart parking lot.
