I know, easy question.

But what is the best way to remove the steering arm on a 90ish GMC for a lift arm?

Very drunk so don't ask., please.

Spray the washers with a good penetrant and beat down on the end of the arm with a big hammer till the tapered washers come loose.

Puller is the way.
If you don't have one, get one, rent one.
Alabama?! Usally they fall off down there as soon as you remove the nut.
Only us rustbelt people are used to BFH's and pullers and things.

Seriously though, don't beat on that end of that arm too much. You might wreck the bearings in the box or other things in there doing that.
Use a nice slow non-jarring puller.

If you are talking about the arm on the steering box just take the bolt out and it will come off. If you are talking about the arm on the axle you have to get the tapered washers loose by beating it by VIBRATION. There is NO WAY you are going to get a puller on it.

Ahhh..sorry. I guess I can't read. Yeah, he is talking about the steering arm, not the pitman arm. Yeah, just keep beating it.

Yeah, I was taling about the steering arm and not the pitman arm.

Strange thing is when I woke up and went outside the next morning it pop right off with one more hit.

The Suburban is a Calif car and from what I know did some time in Colorado so there was some rust around the knuckles and such.
