Do not heat parts! The hammer technique works wonders. Just watch the cone washers, when one begins to loosen, thread it out with some pliers and hammer and repeat.

basically whack the crap out of it, soak in pb blaster, and whack some more.

2lb is a lite weight.
I use a 8 lb hammer. Usually doesnt take more than a couple of whacks with the o'l mauler.

Yup that is exactly where I hit them. Smack it on the forward edge with a slight downward blow(s). A few well chosen words will set the proper mood.
Works every time for me. The 8Lb maul helps too

Don't hit it up or down on the end that the dfrag link hooks to. I just cracked one doing that - and I knew better 
. Like they said above, soak it, hit it, hit it again. I would also recommend leaving the nuts at the top of the studs so that when you miss and hit the stud, it will not mess up the threads.
