Steering box brace?

Have a new question...but first i want to thank everyone who helped with my previous question.

I called central4wheeldrive and i also called 4 wheel parts...and they both carry the plate that welds to the frame but they do not carry the brace. I am going to go get the welding plates tomorrow then order the brace next week. i need to know if the ORD plates are better then the ones that the shops have in stock? central4wheeldrive carries a kit made by warrior? can you guys give me any feed back? or is it all the same?

i took all the advice that came my way...and this is how she will be sitting until repairs are complete...

Since you'll probably be buying the bolt in brace from ORD, you might as well get their weld in kit at the same time. Probably save on shipping...

I would agree with trusty..
get them from ord you know you are getting quality all the braces that weld in require fitting and are not a perfect match. I have not herd one is better than the other.
I bet they are all stamped at the same place and only the name there sold under is different.

that's exactly it.....i'm not going to order the weld in kit because i can't wait for it to come in the mail i need it a.s.a.p. friday i will be ordering the brace kit and plan on getting the weld in kit tomorrow at the nearest 4x4 shop, and have that welded in the mean time. my question was will i be getting a crappy part...Is there something significant about ORDs kit?..or are the all the same?

Have a look on ORD's site, then compare that to what the local shop has. ORD doesn't make the weld in kit, but it is a decent kit. So, as long as it's the same or very similar I'd say you're good to go.

The kit I got had two plates. One over the steering box mount area, and a second that tied into that and bolstered the underside of the frame web.

Whatever weld in kit you get it needs to be a 2 piece, and weld the frame first as mentioned in the previous post.

You still got a lot of prep work to do before even welding. Not to add fuel to the flame, but I'd take a much closer look, and while doing that, order from ORD. I got my brace from them years ago, and when I ordered my winch, got plates from 4wheel parts. Never did get to the plates. Still have it in a box, but the ORD unit had held up well.

I did all the prep work last night..Welding starts in the morning. then i'm replacing ball joints/brakes/calipers/rotors/and a new steering dampener. so hopefuly i will not get the 'ol' mighty death wobble again.

do you have to move your proportioning valve to install that brace? i was going to make a homemade one the other day but it looks like no matter what your going to have to relocate that valve

I have the ORD brace, which im sure is the same as the autofab one. I did not have to move my proportioning valve. It's a tight fit!
