Ok, so i am about to embark on rebuilding a steering gear box and i need to install a 2WD sector shaft for my crossover steering and i need to know does the 2WD shaft have to be from a truck or is a car sector shaft the same?
sweetk30 said:just a simple question but why go threw all the hassle of shaft swap when you can just remove the bolts and hoses and swap the complet box? and all of this after you found the box.
I guarantee that swaping sector shafts out is quicker and easier to do. Pull pitman, unbolt top cap, remove, replace in same manner, done. No hoses, no rag jont to deal with, and you know the condition of your box vs. not knowing the condition of the JY box. I pulled the one from the JY with the box still on the frame and stuck it in mine w/o removing it either.4X4HIGH said:Ok, so now back to the original question. What does the 2WD shaft need to come from, truck or car or are they the same?

You will need to pull the steering shaft to set up the new shaft.

Just look in a Chiltons

that means no S-series, or any cars
they are reversed, wrong side of the frame rail
and no G series either(vans)
good luck
