Steering Column Extra Part

It looks to me like its backwards. Been a number of years since I have been a column of this vintage. But the raised knob goes toward the turn signal stock part of actuator, and the c shaped portion goes against the hooked part of rod to high beam switch
thanks i’ll try a few options tomorrow. already hitting the evening pain killer

As @Wes Harden stated, you have that link backwards in the picture.
My experience has been that it goes together best by having the upper housing loose and slightly lifted, then position the side cover with that little link so that it will rest on the end of the steel hook end of the rod. Then I slide the upper housing down over the oddly shaped knob of the little plastic link and onto the mounting bosses of the column.

On the Turn Signal Stalk the wire is for the Cruise Control. There will be a receiving Female wiring plug up under the dash area that is designed to accept the male skinny four wire plug.

The Stalk will go into the Wiper Switch has the approximately 7 Wires... from the wiper switch going into the relay module out of the relay module I cant remember there are going the wiper motor. The BROWN wire controls the interment relay module.

If you are in this deep , I would replace the turn signal wiring as well .

All three wiring leads will need to route through the column together and if you still have the plastic sleeve this will need to be used to keep the wires from being crimped or damaged.

There is a picture above that shows the intermittent relay. New ones are available as I purchased one from Work Horse Parts

They work well as I just replaced mine.
That's cool to see the wiper delay module is still being made!! I was on the hunt for one for a while and sort of gave up.

This is correct and as @Wes Harden stated it is backwards ... the fat hard piece is what the windshield wiper switch will "swing" into when you pull the "multi-function" lever forward. The narrow "C" piece allows the push rod to go forward ...

NOTE... be sure the rod is inserted into the Dimmer Switch on the steering column down by the "ignition switch". If it has slipped out of the receiving "cup" the rod will not function.

When fully in place the rod is stationary. The tip is in the cup of the dimmer switch which is spring loaded, the Rod sets stationary with the curved end resting on the Plastic piece, the other end of the plastic piece "the fat end" which rides on the metal portion of the wiper switch.

I also found that if you plan to route the Cruise Control wire down the column it is best to run it with the wiper switch and the turn signal switch wires.

Meaning insert the Multi function switch into the Wiper Switch aligning the internal pins on the stalk with the receiving slots on the wiper switch then do as mentioned above with the assembly.

Red Grease on the plastic piece helps it stay in place during the assembly.

TAKE YOUR TIME AND BE PATIENCE

i got it figured out this morning. Thank You everyone for your help

Some photos to help another struggling idiot like myself figure it out and reference

Below is the correct placement if you are going to try and install this “high beam” actuator by lifting this into place

What I did was put the actuator in its final resting place like this

Then i just guided the cover on carefully. Mine is pretty beat up so didn’t care if i jacked it up more but didn’t need to. it went on alot easier this way for me.

Your test is to pull on the turn signal lever and see if brights are coming on and then off. If yes, you are golden.

Wanted to thank you @85-K5Blazer for this info. I pulled my module (it wasn't attached to anything and just floating around but still was found near the steering column behind that lower cover like said.

The module has the exact same part number as the one shown on workhorseparts.com so I went ahead and ordered one since like others have stated.. parts are getting harder and harder to find. Anytime I can get a new part vs going to find a scrap squarebody for parts I prefer new (even when its made in China I guess even though we all know new from China doesn't always mean its better then a used one).

Anyhow.. just wanted to thank you
