So what's the goto setup for steering columns? My Chevy tilt is about ready to die. It's been a good column with lots of use, a few different vehicles, several white knuckle holds....

Trying to decide whether to rebuild this one or just replace it. I don't need any of the goodies as I'm off road only. So no blinkers, horn hasn't been hooked up in years. Ignition is relocted into center console and i run a cable shifter also on the center console. But the tilt pivot pins are getting sloppy and the bearing at the end of the shaft is all but nonexistent anymore.

Easy enough to replace these items, just exploring other ideas/ alternatives.

I saw some basic columns at speedwaymotors for around $150, featureless save for a steering wheel. Seems a clean option if they have the right length and easy enough to join to the truck and steering shaft.

In my trail only rigs, I've always gone the K.I.S.S route - two bearings in either end of a tube, with a splined shaft shoved into the bearings. But then, I always ditched the rest of the factory steering bits too, and attempting to connect that to a factory steering shaft and factory steering wheel usually ends up costing more in special u-joints and flanges than you'd spend in just getting one of the hot rod style columns. Similar in style to this - https://www.kartek.com/parts/blitzk...mooth-to-wheel-34-48-spline-towards-rack.html

You can get tilt racks as well if you'd like - https://www.kartek.com/parts/kreger...34-steering-shaft-radiused-for-1-34-tube.html (these aren't the only options, just handy examples as it seems I'm always buying stuff from Kartek, lol).

I was considering doing that also. Where did you source the splined shaft?
