steering problem? 76k10 lift 12 inches or so

so i found today on my truck that with engine off turn steering wheel right every things good turn left wheels dont move after reaching straight forward:confused::dunno: turns fine when moving.Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know there aren't too many people running that high of a lift on here, but more information is needed to help you figure out what may be going on.

Like is it an all spring lift? Is the steering factory push/pull, or is it crossover? How is the frame around the gear box, could be cracked. There's a lot of variables on these trucks, especially the older they get chances are the aren't factory anymore.
 
That's some serious drag link angle ya got there. You need a drop pitman arm to level that out a bit. Start there.
 
Get crossover and loose 4in of lift.
:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha: lose 4in of lift but hey guess we all have our own oppinions but back to the other thing at hand crossover steering what the price and how hard is it to convert it.
 
not sure what is what on this truck been through so many hands and i heard lots of thing about it trans is out a newer truck so axles are questionable i can post link to pics of ends if it would help
 
Get pictures of the front axle and we can tell you what you have, pics of the ends (balljoint/kingpin area) will be most useful.

12" suspension lift? ...runnin what, 44" swampers?, 1/2 tons?

the stock steering components is scary, and the reason ya can't turn fer chit:popcorn:
 
plus i learned the linkage will flex instead of making a left turn lol awesome NOT!!!! Axle to frame measurement is 16.50"(top of axle tube to bottom of frame rail front and rear).
 
diffently go with cross over. there are some other things you could do like they said a bigger drop pitman ect. but with these trucks, when you lift them the steering geometry goes to hell in a hand bag. And if you do something like a aftermarket draglink you will be always adjusting it and going through thous dam ball joints or tie rod ends depend to who you talk to on here. just search crossover in the forums

p.s from the pic thous ball joint already look toast for the high angle of the draglink

What linkage is flexing? You don't want anything in the steering to have any play.

As for your front axle, it's either a D44 or 10 bolt front (can't tell without seeing the center section). The passenger side knuckle doesn't look like it's a flat top so you'll either need to find a pre '76 D44 set of knuckles and swap them over or go to a D60 front axle.
 
its got ten bolts.the cheap way would be to get a 4 inch drop pitman arm to go with the 4 inch raised steering arm.rhat will ge the drag link somewhere close to stock and not crazy extended the way it is now.im surprised you can drive it at all as it would not make left turns all too well.you only need a 6 inch lift to fit those 35s unless you are going to put bigger tires on it again,which would put more stress on the axles.ball joints look shot and id say the drag link ends are not doing well depending on how long youve been running at that angle.you are definitely a good canidate for crossover steering,but that is a few hundred bucks to get what you need.plus you will need to get a new dana 44 knuckle to hook into and get machined to put the new steering arm.
 
sucks that your on the east coast. i am in the middle of a 1 ton swap and i have a 74 dana 44 with flat top knuckles. Only bad thing about it is the crappy 308 gear ratio
