every time i take my truck out wheeling my steering whel ends up off center. every time i take it out it gets worse, what could be the problem?

i've checked for cracks at the gear box and there are none and i have a steering box brace.

Have you looked at the steering box while it was turned and the vehicle was sitting still? Checked for play in all of the drag link and tie rod ends? Make sure the steering arm is tight on the knuckle?

frame bending? thats the only other thing i can think of.

Have you checked the drag link adjusting sleeve bolts? Mine kept loosening up and allowed the sleeve to rotate when I turned, lengthening and shortening the drag link, thus constantly making the wheel off center byvarying degrees.

The only things that would cause that are, a cracked frame, loose steering box bolts, or a draglink that has the adjuster loose allowing it to move.

slop anywhere in the steering system COULD cause that condition.

i'll check all that stuff out tomorrow. it sucks living on a military base, as long as the hood isn't up i won't get in trouble for working on my truck.
i guess i'll have to get someone to turn the steering wheel for me to check the frame and to see if the geabox bolts are alittle loose.
i also have a xj shaft that i need to instal but i can't run an extension cord all the way to the parking lot for my dremel

My truck does that and it is just the spring deflection. they do not allways sit parallel after wheeling I get a small shift from them. moving the steering wheel.

Gulfport huh? How do you like being a SeaBee?

I bet if you have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth a little while you are looking under the truck you will find the problem.

i had a set of bad ubolts one time. thay started backing off. and the axle was shifting around on me. the steering wheel would not recenter the same place .

so i'm pretty sure i found out what the problem was today, but it was never as bad as it was today, the sleeve that connects the 2 tierod ends.

we muster too much, atleast i think we do. instead of mustering for the CO to tell the company commanders to carry out the plan of the day, we should just go to work. i think it wastes too much time. and alpha company (equipment operator's and construction mechanic's) is the worst, we muster about 6 times a day, and everytime we do we stand around for about 30 minutes just waiting.

i know you have a d60 but is that rod the same, or do they sell hd ones for a 10 bolt? i guess i'll check them out
