Hey everyone!!

Specs: 1983 Blazer, 6.2L diesel, stock suspension, etc...

Trying to tighten up my new ride. The steering is really sloppy so I got underneath and checked everything out. I have noticed there is a lot of slop where the drag link connects to the steering arm. The boot is also busted so I am thinking it is done.

What are some good options for a high quality replacement? Should I just get parts from the local auto supply store? Are there any high quality replacement parts? Any non zerk parts I should look into?

Thanks a bunch.

If you can afford it, Moog parts are hard to beat. I have installed AutoZone brand (Duralast) parts for people without complaints though. All of my vehicles either get Napa brand, or Moog for the steering/suspension pieces.

FYI, I got the trailing drag link from NAPA. Installed it tonight and steering is much better!!!

Getting the end off the steering arm was kind of a pain to say the least. Pounded with a BFH for .5 hours no go. borrowed a pickle fork/snap on impact hammer from a neghbor(thanks Tony) and it popped off after about 5 minutes of work. Good stuff!!! I love using the right tools for the job.

Thanks for the advice. Now lets see how long it lasts:)

Getting this thing running better and better for certain. I am really excited.

I was looking forward to getting tight steering back after finding a bad steering arm/drag link end, and completely shot upper ball joint.

Unfortunately, after a complete rebuild of that side, it seems the steering box and/or ragjoint is shot, as the same play is still there, if not a bit better. Basically the steering is dead on-center. It's like piloting a 32' Bayliner slowly lol.

Hoping yours is completely solved though! :)
