On my '84 K5, my truck has factory single stabilzer and want to replace it with duals. Is this easy to do with no modifications (tru bolt on) and what brand would you guys recommend.
I've ran singles, duals, and haven't ran any stabilizer for years and with everything else on the steering system set up correctly I noticed no difference.
), so i removed it. i wheeled for about another 5 hours, then drove 170 miles home with no issues. i had a SLIGHT wander at highway speeds, but no big deal. replaced it with a shock that i deemed too worn out for suspension, but still had a little bit of life left.
but the wheel moves very easily
I've seen some Skyjacker duals that were bolted end to end across the tie rod so you don't have one hanging low. However, I do just fine with my single.RootBreaker said:the only problem with the duals is it hangs lower... I mainly mud and even dented one of mine up!!!!
you can see in this pic it hangs lower than the axle tube...

If for some reason duals do make a difference, it's simply because they are masking some other problem. My truck had duals when I bought it. I replaced them with the stock single and couldn't tell the difference. I recently removed the stock one when I installed a heavy duty TR and I still can't tell the difference, so I don't run one at all now.
I've come to the conclusion that its only purpose is to dampen vibrations if you have worn steering components![]()
