Steering stabilizers?

On my '84 K5, my truck has factory single stabilzer and want to replace it with duals. Is this easy to do with no modifications (tru bolt on) and what brand would you guys recommend.
 
yup. complete bolt on unless you have a d60. but i used a rancho kit. it was only about 50 bucks and helped with hitting bumps and the wheel bouncing but it still has a good feel to it to where i can tell whats going on. it doesnt seem to hide any problems.
 
the only problem with the duals is it hangs lower... I mainly mud and even dented one of mine up!!!!

you can see in this pic it hangs lower than the axle tube...

Honestly, there is absolutely no reason to run dual steering stabilizers other than looks. If for some reason duals do make a difference, it's simply because they are masking some other problem. I've ran singles, duals, and haven't ran any stabilizer for years and with everything else on the steering system set up correctly I noticed no difference.

i smashed one up offroad (gotta love logs buried in mud puddles :doah:), so i removed it. i wheeled for about another 5 hours, then drove 170 miles home with no issues. i had a SLIGHT wander at highway speeds, but no big deal. replaced it with a shock that i deemed too worn out for suspension, but still had a little bit of life left.
 
Id like to tighten up the steering some. I dont have any slop in it, but the wheel moves very easily, there isnt much resistance to the wheel, while this is a good thing most of the time, Id jus thought duals would help. Ive got a Rough country stabilizer on there now that is about 1 year old if that. ANd I rarely wheel the truck, so I know its in good condition. It was just a thought. :D

it seems like these trucks have amazing power steering pumps or something. mine has a tiny aftermarket steering wheel (PO installed) and 33x12.5s, and it steers easier than my 94 c1500 which has a bigger steering wheel and smaller tires.

I've seen some Skyjacker duals that were bolted end to end across the tie rod so you don't have one hanging low. However, I do just fine with my single.
 
I have the one like posted above and notice no difference from the single, but I do like the looks of the dual ones that go from each axle end. Can't ever seem to find a kit for my Jimmy though.

I agree.

My truck had duals when I bought it. I replaced them with the stock single and couldn't tell the difference. I recently removed the stock one when I installed a heavy duty TR and I still can't tell the difference, so I don't run one at all now.

I've come to the conclusion that its only purpose is to dampen vibrations if you have worn steering components:dunno:

they help me alot, when you have crusty ol flat spotted bias ply tires they help get rid of the death wobble. but yeah for offroad or back when the tires were newer i had no problems.
 
I'm not even sure where the kingpins are. I hear a lot about them, but have no idea where they're at.

They are in lew of BALL JOINTS, where your front knuckle/brakes, etc. mount to the axles.
