Are dual stabilizers worth having? My DD has 35s and i'm gradually getting a better street ride out of it. Looks like I have the stock single stabilizer on there now.

I know most of you guys are junking their sway bars and Rollin on 52s, but for you daily or dual purpose guys, what do you think? Do they help the wonder factor?

I'd just run a quality single. All I plan on.

Ten years ago...when they were more of a "must have" accessory on lifted trucks...I always kept hearing that a single was good for stock-35's or so and doubles were really only necessary for 38" and up.

I'm just going to pick up NAPA's truck shock replacement.

I had the doubles on my 1009 with 35's. I felt like they weren't necessary, but they sure did help it track better on the road. I'm planning on going with duals again this time around.

Ran my k5 with 38.5 and 40s with no stabilizer, never had any issue. When I did run one I could tell no difference.

I've had single, dual, and no stabilizer with 32,35,37, and 40" tires and I could tell NO difference with any setup. I think with proper steering geometry and all of your components in good shape, the stabilzer is not necessary. If you think you need a stabilizer, hydro assist would be the best setup but kinda overkill on a DD.

Don't think this won't work. Most "shocks" have different compression and rebound rates, so it will absorb more from one direction.

I run a Gabriel stock replacement single. The old one was bent up and prob leaked out all it's fluid, there was almost zero resistance on the piston. When the new one went on at was slightly better at straight tracking down the road. The single biggest improvement was the XJ steering shaft. Plus I did the ORD frame crack repair plate and that helped too.

I always ran a single before assist. If you need more than one most likely you have other steering issues.

I have the xi steering shaft and a new drag link. Everything else is currently nice and tight. I still need to do the dropped pitman (currently 6" lift with 4" raised arm). Also on the list is the ORD steering brace and their greasable shackles. That and new damper or 2 should tidy up the front end quite well

Force of habit there. I mean the NAPA steering damper replacement. Which upon doing a bit of research is just the Monroe unit. I can get it $15 cheaper from Rock-Auto so guess I'm getting that.

I wouldn't really see any positive effect of running two stabilizers (other than smashing one on the rocks, making it fun to remove, and find out that was money well spent:haha:). I would figure a big bore rancho stabilizer would do great, and it will be cheap.

Bet ya money the Rancho one = the Monroe one. Same company (Tenneco).

How much is it from rock auto? Never even considered replacing mine.....it was probably due 100k ago :doah:

Something like $22 plus the ride. They had a whole variety of them.

I took the one off of my 1982 K30 3+3 and had death wobble. Put it back on, no death wobble. Had the same issue with my 1988 V10 Suburban. It would occasionally have death wobble, installed a new stabilizer an never experienced it again.

I just put on the Skyjacker dual the other day. I did notice a slight improvement going down the road. Not sure if it is worth the cash or not. But anything that helps is an improvement. Maybe replacing the old worn out stock one with a new one might have done the same. I just think they look cooler, at least until I smash them on some boulders.
