I have an 88 k5 and the steering box is turning the wheels on its own. I disconnected the linkage to the wheels to make sure nothing was bent and pushing it and it still turns by itself. Anybody else ever had this problem? Its obviously the pump or box but id like a second opinion before i throw parts at it.

What do you mean by "turning on its own"? If your hands are off of the wheel and you are not moving do the wheels turn left or right with no input from the driver? Or does the truck want to pull one direction when driving down the road.

I had one turn on its own - as in the steering wheel would spin in one direction or another if the vehicle was moving. It was power, not pulling. This was on a POS AGR box that when opened up was found to be completely destroyed. I think junk was blocking ports or something. F'in AGR ****e!!

With your hands off the wheel it will turn on its own to the full right lock position while the vehicle is sitting still. Im thinking its the gearbox but just wanted to see if anyone else had ever had the problem. And yes the frames still there.
