How hard is it to put a step bumper off of a pick onto a K5. a buddy of mine has one he said he could probaly give me.

Thanks

My bumper is off a 90 Z71. Dunno if this will help but no mods to the frame were done. Just some brackets made up and the bumper bolted on. Hope this helps! :D

Let me know if you need any more shots of this if it helps you out.

Its not bad, but does require some work. Mine was a little harder because I wanted to use the CUCV mounts. I flipped the brackets, drilled a few holes, enlarged a few others, cut the ends of the frame off and it was good. It took a day and a half to get it mounted, including the time I spent figuring out how I wanted to mount it and a trip to the store to get nuts and bolts.

That's fine for an older truck that's in less-than-perfect shape or for wheeling but Dylan why would you want to cut up your nice, excellent-condition, stock trim Blazer to do that? Aren't your bumpers in near-perfect shape? For those of you who haven't seen it, his Blazer is almost as nice as mine and is 97% stock (see below). Even the interior is excellent. Beautiful truck.

Why? :dunno:

I knew you were gonna give me crap, i was just kinda curious. by the way my rear bumper isnt in that great of shape, the Chrome is peeling for now i just took a can of mexi-chrome just to make it look a little less noticable.

and craig thanks for posting that pic it saves me the trouble
since you say my truck is so nice you will probaly be mad when i tell ya i havnt washed it since april. dont you worry though i will probaly wash it this weekend

I really enjoy readin' that.

just letting you know craig the odds are i aint gonna be putting a pickup bumper on.
and any mods i do end up doing are gonna be able to be returned to stock condition.

like my CB there is already hole in the dashboard and center consle, and there is already a hole in the roof with a mount. if i do a whip antenna it will have a braket with the holes drilled to where they cant be seen.

here is my thread over on 4x4mecca(great website)

tranny temp guage i was gonna do, in the ash tray assembly i have a spare one that i would just paint blue. so i would still have the origanal.

Ya i know its a lot to read

Hey you can do whatever you want, just my opinion. I enjoy seeing an old Blazer in nice shape such as yours. Keeping that truck nice could be a really righteous investment not to mention the visual appeal it has now. I'm just not on board with the step bumper idea. If you're gonna mod it...

(1) Don't cut anything
(2) Keep all the original parts you took off and don't lose 'em

If you want to sell it down the road, people will pay more money to get an unmolested original truck than they would buying someone else's project.

:)

there is only 3 parts i threw away. One of the turn singles(it was broken), the old carpet, and i cant think of the other.

I agree, i like seeing truck that are not all beat to hell and built, dont get me wrong its cool but you see it way to much. I am accualy kind build the truck like it would of been in the early to mid 80's and to kinda resemblem my grandpa's blazer.
