I hate the position of the stereo in my V1500 Suburban. Now that I have been commuting in newer vehicles with the radio in the center stack, I'm a spoiled little girl about the radio. Does anyone make a radio that has detachable face controls that you mount somewhere else for better access? Like this ham radio....

Over head wouldn't help out? http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csb/full.aspx?Page=97 the "highliner" is what I was thinking of.

Someone on here has one, there were a few posts about it, can't find it in a cursory search.

I've got one and I like the arrangement. I got mine from JC Whitney because it was on sale but it's the same deal. It only fits the blazer though, and has no provisions for accommodating a console.

The old school trick is to get a radio with a detachable face. Then use network cable to make a wire extension. Basically solder it pin for pin on the face plate and stereo. Hide the main part and mount the face where you want.

look at marine audio. they have all sorts of that. they have controls for the whole radio in like a 2.5 inch circle. with a 25' or 30' cable..... for beaching boats and not having to get back in to change song:waytogo:
