Stinky Craftsman screw driver handles. Other links post 33

The few I have also stink up the tool box. And thats just a couple of them. Mix that with 80-90 and and some jet ski oil that has been tipped over in there also. good stuff

My craftsman nut drivers stink really bad too, but it was the case they were in. I guess it must have been that acetate stuff.

I can say, my Dad has a drawer full of Craftsmen red/blue/clear handled screwdrivers, and they don't stink, none of mine do either. Of couse I smoke so maybe I just can't smell sh*t anymore. :grin:

I knew they stank but I never knew why. I thought it was some of the other crap I kept in my toolboxes. My Craftsman screwdrivers reek. I've had them for like 20 years.

Mine are atleast 20 yrs old too and stink still too.

I have craftsman screwdrivers that are about ten years old and some of my dads screwdrivers are 20-30 years old. None of them seem to have a noticeable scent.

Just returned about a dozen more stinky screw drivers with no charge for the Profesional handle style drivers. I have a bunch more but their out of stock. I took most of them:D

this is real interesting.ive used craftman stuff all my life and never had them smell like anything but oil or fuel.i even have some of the old school wooden handle craftman stuff from must be the 60s my dad had.the clear and colored handled tools i have from at least 3 decades of difference dont smell like anything either:crazy:.for this i am eternally gratefull.i dont want poop smellin tools.thats for sure.on a lighter note,i haye the courtasy sniff you have to give whe a buddy says "hay smell this".but you always have to do it cause someday you will be paying him back with a smell of your own.haha

Yeah, it seems as though some stink and some just don't. The smell I'm talking about is the same whether it be mine or the guys across the country. Not just oil and grease grime type smell.

Has ANYONE actually done a google searce besides me on this? I doubt it, but I'm telling you there ARE threads on this subject. Here are just a few I found. Here is one particular funny quote from one web page

"For some reason, screwdriver handles will spontaneously degrade and start to smell really bad, like the stuff stuck under a toenail. ..."

:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:
