Re: Parts in AZ *lower prices*

What is the condition on the MSD box? Like how old, what was it installed on and why are you selling it? Also is it part number 6470?

Thanks,

Eric

Re: Parts in AZ *lower prices*

The box is 1.5 years old. I hasn't been run in 6 months though. I pulled it out when I swapped in Fuel Injection. I didn't reinstall because a fellow member told me it can do weird things to the TPI system I run. Cause trouble codes and ghosts in the machine. So I didn't reinstall it.

It was on my 85 K5 stockish 350. I have an uncut wiring harness for it so you don't have to worry about short wires. The battery leads are not cut either.

It is the Offroad box that is fully potted in epoxy and water & vib proof. I believe the number is the 6470 but I will double check. It is the black offroad box so whatever that number is.

So in your opinion do you think this will cause prolbems with a TBI motor. Mostly stock, only mods will be a edlebrock intake and matched edlebrock cam (very mild).

Got a pic of the actual box?

Thanks again,

Eric

Re: Parts in AZ *lower prices*

With TBI I don't know. I was told from a friend that his MAP TPI had problems with it. TBI is also an MAP supported FI system. He eventually got most of the ghosts out of his machine and still runs the MSD on his TPI and it runs well now but he said in the beginning it was a headache.

If you are already running FI I personally wouldn't run an MSD box. I don't think the gains will be anywhere as evident in throttle response, gas mileage, power, etc.

I installed this on my carb motor and it help ALOT. I don't think it would help an FI motor that much because they are much more efficient to begin with. That is what the box does it makes the spark more efficient.

If you want a pic let me know and I will get one for you. It might take a day or two though.

Thanks

I'm going to call MSD on Monday and talk to their tech department and ask for advice.

I will let you know what I decide on Monday.

Not to hijack your sale but do you know how to test the msd box. I pulled one out of my truck that was not connected, i guess teh previous guy was having the same problem as you with the errors.

I tested this on by hooking it up too my roommates truck to make sure it was working right. Beyond that I don't really know how to test it. Sorry
