stock c20 crew cab?????

Wayulllll.

Mine was tagged anc VIN'd as a C-20. However, I think that was to get around emissions labelling or something, or maybe 'cuz the truck weighs more it dropped down into the next rating.

Notably, the frame is the thicker, narrower type, so it's a 1-ton frame. The rear springs are the same as on a medium-duty 1-ton; not the heaviest that could be had, but not the smallest. The front springs are the heaviest they could put in an SRW; to get bigger you'd hafta go to dually.

Mine is before the K/30's were available, but I believe that yes, you could get a D44/10b in a K/20 crew.

I upgraded mine to C/30 ... first with the bigger rear springs (easy!), and later went full dually front and rear.

My Dad bought a '76 C20 3+3 brand new when I was a kid. We had that truck 10 years or so.

c is 2wd platform
k is 4wd platform

i believe you could get a c20 in crew cab configuration, but to go to a k series, it had to be a k30; or 1 ton platform. i don't believe there ever was a k20 crew cab; at least in a solid front axle.

who cares what it's vin'd as, buy it, chop the frame off behind the cab, tube it out and wheel the wee out of it :-) :-)

it would need a front axle and transfer case to wheel

no, and that is not a k20. it is a c20.

I know the one in the ad is a c20. just was asking a general question about k20's.

I have always wanted a crew cab, but I don't think I could deal with it being 2wd.

Ah, now that is custom. Crewcabs, for 73-91, were always longbeds.

I['m thinking so too. i'm leaning towards 22.5" Alcoas and chopping the top a couple inches. seriously I'm not kidding. I have a vision. it'll pull daily driver status too. SO I can retire the Dodge to hotrod offroad truck.
