I plan on running 4" TC EZ-rides for the front

That is not going to change

For the rear I was thinking 64's but that seems like a such a PITA

How is the flex on stock springs anda shackle flip?

Should look like this when done. I have 39.5 tsl's and a step-side. Mine is teal though.

I could be wrong but I don't think the shackle flip is going to increase your flex. The spring is what it is. The shackle flip is just relocating it.

4" TC ez ride front springs, 4" ORD shackle flip, swaybar still connected

Stock rear springs have more than enough flex to get you hooked and make you spend all your money like a crackwhore :waytogo:

Stock rear springs (I actually added a leaf to each out of an old spring pack, but pretty much stock) and a shackle flip from diy4x4 with johnny joints... you tell me how it flexes.

you are wrong. the stock setup is designed to carry weight. the stock geometry is very poor for flex.

I agree....but will the spring itself flex any more than what it already does?

the spring is prevented from flexing by the stock setup. the shackle setup prevents the spring from using its full potential. the spring can only flex so much no matter what setup you run, but the setup can affect how much flex you can achieve.

the stock setup is a "suspension setup" when you flip the shackle it puts it in a compression set up and greater force is applied so it flexes better on the same spring.

How does this effect payload capacity? I am raising my suburban 2" by way of front springs and a shackle flip. I did the shackle flip in hopes of retaining the factory springs to keep the load capacity up.

I was told to never tow or haul alot with a shackle flip... also the flip will net you pretty much 4inches... if you only want two I would just use a block.

ORD makes a 2.5" flip. the springs are not weaker but the truck will sag more under weight because the shackle can swing more.

Glad to hear that :haha:

I was planning on modifying the stock set-up to be a shackle flip. I don't see any reason to buy it when I can do it myself with a torch and a welder.

I did the redneck shackle flip for a while and it worked ok, I just decided to get the DIY4x one for more strength and flex...

Just finished and boy was it a PITA

I'm going to be gusseting and reinforcing it tommorow

Cutting the hole out with a body saw. It actually worked really well

The whole thing wasn't that hard actually

Just took a few hours. Make sure you have a die grinder and a body saw or cut off wheel.

Also you need a drill and a good drill bit like one from fastenall to drill out the corners of the hole.
